I honestly never “planned” to be a travel agent – life just led me to it! After earning a liberal arts degree, I thought I had found my dream job working at the Denver Chamber of Commerce. But during a college graduation trip to Hawaii, I met my future husband! After a long-distance romance, I picked up my life, got married, became a Navy wife, and settled into the small Navy community of Bremerton, WA. The next few years were spent selling radio advertising, when a co-worker decided to open a travel agency and asked me to work for him. I spent three months commuting by ferry to travel school across the breathtaking waters of the Puget Sound to Seattle. The travel agency took off, and we were busy hand-writing airline tickets and building vacations, all without the assistance of the internet! Can you imagine? In fact, since 1985, I’ve seen this wonderful, crazy, and ever-changing travel industry adapt to deregulation, automation, and most recently, specialization. And through it all, I’m still madly in love with my career!
In 2001, after 16 years working for someone else, I decided it was time to open my own travel agency, where I could follow my passion for providing creative, customized travel consulting.
Today’s travel consultants are more likely to focus on one particular specialty. I’ve come to realize in both my personal and professional life, that I’m a nurturer; and am happiest bringing people together to celebrate! With three daughters in the house, I was always organizing birthday parties, Girl Scout trips, family vacations, and searching to find ways to create lasting memories, so organizing group travel was a natural progression after they all left home. As a business owner, I feel extremely fortunate to use my nurturing abilities to bring people closer together through the magic of travel!
Travel has the ability to transform us. It enhances our lives with new cultural experiences, and broadens our understanding of the world we live in. Combine that with the ability it has to bring together people who share common interests, and you’ve created the perfect environment to transform and build deeper, stronger relationships.
Over the years, I’ve been entrusted with escorting senior groups on Caribbean and Mississippi river cruises; creating dream Destination Weddings to tropical beaches; and sending countless “family and friend” groups on vacation to celebrate milestone events such as birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. My exciting new venture is working with small businesses who want to increase their customer loyalty through travel.
I welcome each day with a smile, because I’m doing what I love…helping my clients to make new memories, create stronger bonds, and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life through group vacations.
I look forward to the day when I can create YOUR group getaway!
Bon Voyage and Happy Travels!
